As summer swelters in Hanoi our relationship with public space can become a particular focus. How do we interact with physical spaces? As individuals what do we contribute & what are we destroying? Is the sense of place detached from community? And what role should/could designers have in this ever-changing urban landscape?
To open up the discussion we invite Michal Teague, Design Studies Lecturer at RMIT University Vietnam, & Nejc Kugler, urban designer & researcher representing KCAP Architects&Planners.
Michal will discuss landscape amnesia, creeping normalcy, cultural intelligence & some of the latest research on the impact of green space (tactile and digital) on well-being.
Nejc will draw from his one-year research project completed on community built, grassroots urban gardens in Berlin and Madrid. Presenting perceptions and connections between physical space, urban sociology and environmental psychology.
