Xóm Nhạc số đặc biệt: Joee & I và Teenage Granny @ Xóm Nhạc

Xóm is super happy to host two muses of the Philippines for a special evening. Come to the lush garden to enjoy the enigmatic sounds of Manila's beloved electronic musicians.
And there might be an improvisation performance of the 3 acts of the night :)

Joee & I

is an electronic music act from the Philippines presenting the work of Joee Mejias, a musician and multi-media artist, and her collaborators.

Joee & I’s music combines field recordings, traditional and found instruments, electronic beats and voice forming songs that exist in inner memories, dream altered states, fragments of a real or imagined journey.

Live performances vary in use of projections, video, installation, and live performers influenced by Joee’s background in theater.
Joee has performed in venues around Southeast Asia, Canada, Japan, Taiwan and has been touring around the Philippines. She is co-producer of WSK: Festival Of The Recently Possible, an international festival of digital arts and electronic music in the Philippines and co-founder of HERESY, a platform for women in sound and multimedia.

Teenage Granny

is a musician, writer, and film score composer from Manila. For seven years, she has been performing all over the city as a singer and multi- instrumentalist for several bands. She is currently the vocalist and guitarist of garage folk outfit Ourselves the Elves. Her forays with sound art and electronic music fuel her experimental solo project, Teenage Granny. Alyana has made music for a handful of films, such as Cinema One Originals 2016 Best Film awardee, “2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten,” and Regal Entertainment’s horror film, “The Debutantes,” wherein she got nominated for best musical score by Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards (FAMAS) 2018. When she goes home to her bedroom with just her guitar, she writes political songs for her folk project identity.

Aside from performing, Alyana also organizes live shows, mostly (but not exclusively) for female musicians and female-fronted bands. She has recently founded Kababae Mong Tao, a multimedia platform aiming to empower creative women of all colors and expressions. Alyana believes in sisterhood solidarity, male involvement, faeries, woman-moon synchronicity, and the power of lucid dreams.

This evening is not to be missed (and you know it).
